My rich friend invited me to a party over at his house
I didn't expect to see the girl who was going to be my spouse
The girl that ran out with another guy
The girl who left me on the wedding day to cry
It was supposed to be the happiest day of my life
Because I was going to get a wife
And as I saw her standing there looking the same
The memories flashed and the tears came again

            I stood there watching her
            As she danced with somebody
            I stood there watching her
            So filled with jealously
            I stood there watching her

My friend walked up and asked if I knew her
I said yeah but not so well
He asked if I wanted to dance with her
But to me our dance was over, So I

            I stood there watching her
            As she danced with somebody
            I stood there watching her
            So filled with jealously
            I stood there watching her

I wonder what she was doing all these years
I wonder if she ever thought of my pain and tears
When the party was over I didn't bother to call her out
I just walked around in the night and thought of what could have been love
But all through the night

            I stood there watching her
