It was really a dirty thing to do
And I can't believe she and I been together this long
And some nights I lie awake and hold her
And a thought cross my mind about a friend who's long gone
We all used to hang around
He used to tell me how he love her
How bad he wanna be with her
I didn't understand what he saw in her
I said man, "you go on after her!"
He said ,"Man, help me to approach her!"

I saw how wonderful she was to be dating
I double crossed my pal and his confidence in me
And then she asked me to get married
I didn't think it could get so far
But together still, here we are
We never saw him again
I am some kind of friend
Here I am living a lie but life is great
Could never let her know the truth from those days
It bothers me yes it do
But I can make it through!
