UP IN A SMALL TOWN written by Sheldon Manoo (1994)

I grew up in a small town
 Almost everybody knew my face
And I know many of theirs
There was right and wrong
Nice blend of the human race
  Almost everything was clear
There were the schemers and the schemees
The liars and the thieves
And little caring bastards like me

Up in a small town
Is where I grew up
Living in a small town
I really learnt a lot

I remember the Savannah days
I’d sit and watch people play
Going up to the river and
Think and make a lot of plans
Just walking around and round
Making folks think that I was crazy
But every time in my mind there was a song
And yeah we had our own bottled up mysteries

Up in a small town
Is where I grew up
Living in a small town
I really learnt a lot
Up in a small town
Is where I grew up
Living in a small town
I really learnt a lot

Growing in a small town has it’s advantages
And many of the disadvantages
There were very many opportunities
Especially for a guy like me
I won’t forget my neighbours and all who passed through the town
Even now that many of the foundation have been dead and gone
Memories follow me everywhere

Up in a small town
Is where I grew up
Living in a small town
I really learnt a lot
Up in a small town
Is where I grew up
Living in a small town
I really learnt a lot

Up in a small town
Is where I grew up
Living in a small town
I really learnt a lot
