WHY DO WE SAY GOODBYE WHEN WE DON’T WANT TO written by Sheldon Manoo (1995)

            I don’t know why, I just don’t know why
I don’t know why do we say goodbye
            When we don’t want to
I shouldn’t say it to you

And I won’t but you are saying it to me
You say that you have to leave
But deep inside it’s not something you want to do
Why do we say goodbye when we don’t want to?
I could remember the first time I saw you
I didn’t have anything much to say then
Then the more I saw you, the more I felt inclined to
Become one of your good good friends
I heard them say that parting is sweet sweet sorrow
But nothing is sweet if you goooooo!

(Music)

They say it’s just human nature that
We all must meet and sometimes part
But that’s the part of life I can’t stand
I don’t think that’s part of the major plan
The lines of communication just ain’t enough
Nothing compares to that gentle hand’s touch
And face to face conversation where expression is seen
I feel you know just what I mean
My point is you’re old enough to make your choice
And you don’t want to listen to that quiet voice
If you go you’ll be leaving me lonely
If you stay you’ll miss them greatly
If you go you’re gonna miss me greater
If you stay you can always see them later
Cause you know my life could take me anywhere
And memories don’t show a picture so clear
So we humans we hurt ourselves to comfort others who really don’t need the comforting
But why do we hurt ourselves and hurt others who can’t face that lonely pain
And you’re a human so I ask this question to you
Why do we say goodbye when we don’t want to?
