Got a message from the man on the,  second floor

About the girl who lives,  next door

She’s the kind you should stay,  far from

And don’t you wonder no don’t,  play dumb

But who could stop a boy who’s , longing

To have a girl to have,  something

Pertaining to love,, Yeah, Yeah Yeah!

The old lady down the hall, oh no

Last night died in,  her sleep

She was a kind gentle,  person

So God let her rest, in peace

And though she had no, family

She’ll stay in our, memory

All in this building, Yeah Yeah, Yeah!

            Though the walls are cracked

            The paint’s all peeling

            The rent’s too high

            Upstairs the roof’s leaking

            This is our home

Our neighbourhood Yeah!  Yeah Yeah Yeah

            SOLO

There’s a feeling we get when we, cooperate

That’s the way we should always, operate

Society’s got a plaque let’s not con----tract it

The curse of poverty let’s at------tack it

The narrow minded will try to, keep us down

Let us gang together let’s , live as one

Keep their drugs out our house  Yeah Yeah Yeah!

So I got to get to the girl, next door

Tell her how I feel now, before

All the things the man said, she’ll do

Got to save her before it all, comes true

She’ll be a victim of, poverty

And I’d be poor and so, lonely

Still in this building  Yeah Yeah Yeah!
