MY SON written by Sheldon Manoo (1997)

20 years from now when this day doesn’t make a difference to you

or to me

When you got your own life

And your own points of view

And you’ll wanna argue my teachings

With your new way of the modern times

Tonight as I walk you across the floor

Trying to comfort my baby boy

And these thoughts go through my head

What about what everybody has said

I always thought I could go the distance

I wonder what kind of father I’ll be

One like mine or one like somebody on TV

I see so many mothers walking their baby

I hear so many fathers talking neglect

But I love my son!

(Music)

And when I die and leave this earth

I hope my son is still alive

To carry on and keep me alive to

And tonight

You won’t remember this

But I will never forget it

And now as I walk you across the floor

I’m praying to God to keep me sturdy

To keep me a part of

To keep us connected

And keep me supportive

I want to walk my son in the sunshine

And I want to see him shine

And if I have any other children

Be it boy or girl

I hope I can love them all the same

And tonight it hurts me to see him hurting

I wonder if always I will feel this same thing

Towards my son!
