I was heading from Cane Farm      (E)

To the San Fernando Hill               (G)

I was driving in my escort              (Em)

Oh up until                                      (Am)

She broke down late on                   (E)

 The Uriah Butler Highway             (G)

Saw a light in a shack                      (Em)

Thought I’d get to stay                    (Am)

When she opened up the door         (E)

Was an angel named Doolorie        (G)

She invited me for                           (Em)

Some chutney and poolorie.            (Am)                                (Am)

We stayed whole night

Talking about the government

And her family lived on

This land without any rent

She had one brother and

Two sisters who went Guyana

And nobody really knew

What happened to her mother

Her diabetic father had high

Blood pressure and could be overbearing

That’s why her little brother

From day to night kept working.                                            (Am)

I promised her I’d be

Back to visit her soon

Couldn’t go Sando

So I headed back home

But I knew as I drove away

I’d never return

Cause my life would be too busy

And there’s so much friends I own

But I know I’d think of

Doolorie now and then

Pray she finds something to do

And her life goes well………..          (Am)
